On PolygonCraft we want each player to respect all their fellow players, whether it be on the server, on the forums, or anywhere else. Any disrespectful behaviour will be punished, by staff, where the punishment depends on the severity of the situation. With all other rules it is important that you should ALWAYS respect the other players, even if that might not be apparent from that particular rule.
Clause 1.2 - Protection
It is up to each individual user to survive in the best way they can. A large majority of the world is unprotected, and while griefing is not allowed, people might take advantage of your unprotected structures.
If you wish to reduce the possibility of grief, it’s encouraged that you seek out an area to get protected for yourself by asking a staff member to protect it. To furthermore protect your items you can lock your chests using Lockette. Contact a staff member if you need help with this or watch our Lockette tutorial.
Clause 2 - Building Rules
Clause 2.1 Disallowed Structures
There are several disallowed structures on this server, which are prohibited even in the wild:
·Blocks spelling out discriminating and/or pornographic language.
·Signs with discriminating and/or pornographic language.
·Player traps in non-PvP worlds.
·Continuous redstone clocks or other repeating systems are not allowed.
·Temporary, small redstone clocks are fine so long as they are only used for a short period at a time.
·Enderman farms in the end resource world (Inzo).
·Any buildings deemed inappropriate by staff.
Clause 2.2 Locks and Protection
You cannot build a house out of or protect a house with anything that is considered a large amount of tile entities, or otherwise have a massive number of any of these items in an area for purposes other than their general intended purpose within Minecraft game play.
Tile entities include (but may not be limited to based on future Minecraft updates): Furnaces, Signs, Enchanting Tables, Brewing Stands, Chests, Hoppers, and Noteblocks.
You are still allowed to use these blocks for their general purpose.
Having buildings built almost or completely out of any of these blocks may warrant them being WorldEdited out.
If you wish to make a large storage area you will need to find a secluded area in which the chance of players encountering the area is small. For example it is best to build a large chest storage underneath an ocean far away from spawn.
Clause 3 - Player vs. Player (PvP)
When you enter a PvP zone, you do so at your own risk. You can die at any point, even if you are "afk” or "just spectating”. PvP on our server is item safe, where items are not lost upon death. If for some reason you lose items during PvP you should contact staff or the player who received the items. We do not guarantee that items if lost will be refunded.
If you allow someone else to access one of you chests, they are able to take any of the contents. Please use our system with caution. Only allow players you trust to access your chest's contents.
Clause 5 - Inappropriate Usernames and Skins
Any skin deemed offensive or vulgar is not allowed. This can include anything from Hitler skins to nude skins and this is moderated solely at staff discretion. Offending users will be asked to change their skin, and failure to do so may result in removal from the server.
Any username deemed offensive or vulgar is not allowed. This can include anything from Nazi refrences to sexual refrences and this is moderated solely at staff discretion. Offending users will be asked to change their username using Mojang's service, and failure to do so may result in removal from the server.
The most common inappropriate username offences are those with vulgar language and/or racial slurs within them. However, other types of inappropriate usernames may be locked if the staff team deems them not suitable for our playerbase.
Section 2 - Griefing, Trolling and Harassment
Clause 1 - Griefing
Grief is defined as breaking or destroying things that do not belong to you, including breaking and replacing things to get to places that otherwise you shouldn't be going (for example, breaking into someone's house). Stealing from other players is also counted as griefing, as by mcbans standard (these can be found here: www.mcbans.com). This can also extend to building things in areas that do not belong to you. Griefing is a bannable offense.
Clause 2 - Trolling
This rule is super simple. Don’t be a troll, and especially don’t troll others away from the server. Please look up "Troll (Internet)” for a more comprehensive definition.
This includes flaming or attempts to start any form of chaos and discord within the server.
Clause 3 - Harassment
Harassment constitutes as any form of action (chat or gameplay wise) that makes another player feel threatened or otherwise ruins their gameplay.
This includes, but is not limited to; blackmail, bullying or any other form of harassment that occurs through our chat system.
Attempting to kill other players in any non-PvP zone also constitutes as harassment, and succeeding in killing other players in non-PvP areas is a very severe offence that will result in a ban.
Clause 3.1 - Trespassing
If the owner of a protected area asks you to leave their region for any reason and you are not a member of the region, you must comply with their request. You may not return to this region unless the applicant owner or the owner who has asked you to leave permits you to do so, by any means, including setting homes in the region. Staff members do not have to leave if they are performing staff duties in that region.
Clause 4 - Common Sense and Bending the Rules
While this is a gaming environment, PolygonCraft also is a community. As such, we expect that all players use their common sense. Be a good sport and a friendly community member.
Common sense extends to not bending the rules. Bending the rules constitutes as very severe trolling, and is not tolerated in any form.
Encouraging others to break the rules is not using your common sense.
Finding ways around the rules is punishable at administration’s discretion, from warnings all the way up to bans.
If you feel like a rule has a loophole or a way that it could be used to be trolly or disrespectful, then we encourage use of our suggestions forum or contacting the administration directly in order to take a look at the rules that may need to be changed.
Section 3 - Economy and Transactions
Clause 1 - Safety and Responsibility
When it comes to trades, whether it be an item for item trade, an item for money trade, a money for server features trade, or any sort of trade, there is a responsibility all parties take in participating in these trades to collect appropriate evidence in case something goes wong.
The main types of evidence needed to prove that a trade has gone wrong are: Proof of agreement (where the trade is stated and agreed upon by both parties) and the payment (where the payment is sent or received by one party.)
Under no circumstances is evidence from Skype or any other type of communication outside of the main server or forums admissible.
All parties involved in the trade understand that it is not the staff’s responsibility to return their money should they be scammed, and that in most situations, any money scammed will be lost. Users participate in trading at their own risk.
Clause 2 - Scamming
A general definition of a scam in the context of PolygonCraft is a transaction in which a user pays for goods or services from another user, and does not receive those goods/services in the agreed upon timeframe.
Failing to uphold your end of the deal is scamming, and is punishable by a ban. Your continuance on the server may rely on you following through with your end of the deal, or refunding what you scammed, solely at the staff’s discretion.
Clause 2.1 - Renaming items
Users cannot rename items for the purpose of making them misleading (for example, taking a cookie and renaming it "Diamond Sword”, and then attempting to trade it without specifying that the item is a cookie is against the rules)
If you are trading an item that has been renamed, you MUST specify what the item was before it was renamed.
All renamed items must follow the language and content rules for chat on the server. If it would not be appropriate in global, it is not an appropriate item name.
Making or distributing items that are inappropriately named are both punishable to the same extent. If you find or receive an item that has been inappropriately named, please inform a staff member immediately, so that they may investigate and act appropriately.
Clause 2.2 - Attempted Scamming
Users cannot attempt to scam other users. If enough evidence is provided and the staff believe a scam was intended, this will result in a (temporary) ban against the offending user.
Clause 3 - User to User InGame-to-Real Life Currency Transfers
Real life money/items being given for in-game items, InGame Currency, or anything else within PolygonCraft is not allowed. If an investigation ensues and concludes such a transaction took place, or may take place, all users involved will be severely punished.
InGame Currency also may not be used for real-life transactions, including real life tangible items and minecraft-related items away from the server. All InGame Currency transactions must be PolygonCraft related.
Trading InGame Currency for PolygonCraft Server Features (ie. people purchasing features from the server on your behalf) is allowed because all parts of the transaction have to do directly with PolygonCraft. However, these transactions are not encouraged due to the high risk of getting scammed and things going wrong.
Section 4 - Chat, Channels and Discussions
Clause 1 - General Chat Rules
Clause 1.1 - CAPS and Spam
Excessive use of capitals in chat messages is condoned, but if staff or other player request you to stop, then you have to stop using capitals exxesively.
Spam is not allowed. Repetitive words, letters, symbols that aren’t used in their correct context, or many messages sent quickly are considered spam.
Clause 1.2 - Advertising
Advertising is strictly prohibited in our chat system for any kind of external product, Minecraft server, or anything else non-PolygonCraft related. This includes anything put on signs, said in chat, written in books, renamed to on items (see Section 3 Clause 2.1), spelt out in blocks, or any other way of communicating. PolygonCraft does not support players of PolygonCraft advertising PolygonCraft on different servers where advertising is also prohibited.
Except for mentioning another Minecraft server, mentioning external products is allowed, as long as they are not being advertised.
Clause 1.3 - Lottery
Spamming Lottery is not allowed. Repeatedly buying tickets, in a manner that locks up normal conversation, may result in you being asked to stop or immediately kicked in order to stop the action, depending on the severity, and is at staff’s discretion based on the flow of chat at the time.
Clause 1.4 - Staff Decisions
In all cases you have to listen to the decisions made by staff. Ignoring staff and/or ignoring the warnings that they give to all players can result in a kick or ban. Staff always has the final call on decisions as they are best fit to analyze the situation. Staff can be recognized by their bold tags in game. Staff tags are: [Trial-Mod], [Mod], [Admin], [Staff-Manager], [Plugin-Manager] and [Owner].
In the event that you disagree with a staff decision then you are not allowed to argue this decision in chat. You can report it on the forums of PolygonCraft under the section The Zenter as can be found here: http://www.polygoncraft.net/forum/m/26435942/viewforum/4926402. Make sure to include screenshot proof of the staff decision to speed-up the process of reviewing your report.
Clause 2 - Vulgarity
Inappropriate and vulgar language is condoned. However, anything that is discriminating and/or pornographic is not. This includes anything put on signs, said in chat, written in books, renamed to on items (see Section 3 Clause 2.1), spelt out in blocks, or any other way of communicating. This also includes discriminating/pornographic usernames or nicknames.
Swearing is tolerated under certain circumstances. You can never swear at any fellow player as this would be in violation of Section 1 Clause 1.1. This includes any form of censoring. For example saying "**** you!" is still considered swearing/disrepecting and will not be tolerated. An example of what is allowed: "Fuck, I fell lava and lost all my items!"
Discriminatory language or slurs of any sort falls under the vulgarity rule, and is considered a very serious offence, punishment of which may not warrant a warning before being given.
Clause 3 - Inappropriate/Touchy Subjects and Discussions
PolygonCraft is a server community consisting of many age groups, religious groups, and political backgrounds. As such, there are many touchy subjects that we do not allow in our public channels in order to keep the peace and prevent arguments and flame wars from occurring.
There is to be no discussion of subjects, including, but not limited to, sexuality, excessive violence, and relgion.
This rule extends into subjects about illegal substances or actions, including drugs.
Politics, religion, and suicide are common "touchy subjects”, however they are not the only ones. Should a staff member ask you to change a subject they feel is touchy and/or is causing the direction of chat to deviate towards an argument or flame war, you must drop the subject immediately.
Clause 4 - Private Chat
There is to be no abuse of other users via private chat. All chat including private chat must follow all other rules of PolygonCraft. The only exception is that private chat does not have to be English.
Clause 5 - Languages
PolygonCraft is a server on which English is the main language.
You are required to speak English in all global chat channels.
If you wish to play with a friend and speak other languages, that is fine in private chat channels. However, it must stay out of global chats.
Clause 6 - "Mini-Modding"
PolygonCraft is a community where users should be helpful to one another.
Informing others of the rules is allowed and encouraged.
Telling or threatening others with the consequences of breaking the rules is considered mini-modding.
Please be wary about how you inform others of breaking the rules. Being demeaning, condescending or rude could come off as mild mini-modding as opposed to being helpful.
If the consequences need to be spelled out, please leave that to the staff online. As we deal with things on a case-by-case basis, it's impossible to know exactly what a staff member would actually do to a member breaking the rules, even if you can give a good guess.
Clause 7 - Getting Help
If you need ANY sort of help, not pertaining to minecraft, quit the game and contact:
Your issues will not be dealt with on this server. Most of our players are children and none of us are licensed psychiatrists.
Section 5 - Hacking, Exploits and Unfair Play
Clause 1 - Hacking and Hacked Clients
Fly, speed, air build, teleport hacking, or any other types of hacks, are not tolerated. This includes x-ray hacking and x-ray resource packs. Using any unfair means (including glitches, bugs, and exploits) to get into server buildings is also not allowed and is unfair to other users.
Using any clients, specifically hacked clients, which may allow you to gain unfair advantages as deemed by PolygonCraft staff is strictly prohibited.
Users caught using any client deemed to be a "hacked client", as defined by and at the discretion of the staff, will be banned. There is no excuse for using a hacked client on PolygonCraft whatsoever.
Discussion of hacked clients is not allowed - we do not allow them, and therefore we do not discuss them.
Clause 2 - Multiple Accounts
Multiple accounts are not tolerated on this server. If you are caught using two or more Minecraft accounts to benefit you, all accounts will be banned and you will lose the ability to play on the PolygonCraft server permanently.
Multiple accounts on the same internet connection/IP are allowed so long as the accounts are used by different people.
Users may be questioned for being on the same internet connection, or, in cases of suspicious activity and bans, immediately banned regardless of the reason for the same connection, to be appealed with an explanation.
Clause 3 - Exploits
Abuse of any exploits, bugs, or glitches can result in a punishment based on the severity of abuse. Those are unfair "advantages" that can cause major issues for everyone on the server.
When exploits are found, they need reported to the server owner immediately.
Being a good sport and reporting issues (mainly severe exploits) could benefit you more than abusing them would. Game play is to be kept fair for everyone.
Reporting an exploit, bug or glitch after you abused it is still the best course of action, as this will be taken into account when staff decides on what punishment should follow.
Clause 3.1 - Server Exploits
Any user caught exploiting any feature or a part of the server without reporting it will be severely punished.
As well, hacking into the server through any sort of illegal method will have your information forwarded to your local Police Department after your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is contacted.
Clause 3.2 - Economy Exploits
Any user caught severely exploiting the economy in any way without reporting the glitch or bug will be severely punished.
Exploiting the economy is any action that results in an unfair economical advantage to a single user or group of users, by means of a glitch, exploit or bug.
This also means that exploiting exploits that are known is against the rules. If you believe a bug, glitch or exploit has been reported and has not been fully fixed, please report this to the administrator.
There will be absolutely no chance of appeal for this sort of action.
Clause 4 - Third Party Programs, Auto-Farming, AFK-Farming, etc.
The use of third party programs that create any form of advantage that does not require you to do work while playing Minecraft is strictly prohibited, and can result in a ban.
The use of machines that require the user to do very little work (e.g. holding down right mouse button) are allowed to be used if and only if the user is present at his computer. This includes usage of vanilla mechanics to farm for resources. Staff will check on users regularly to check if they respond to a chat message. In the event that there is no response the user will be punished appopriately.
The general rule of thumb here is: If your character is not marked as AFK (either manually or automatically) then you should be present at your computer. So standing AFK next to a mob grinder is allowed, as long as your character is not doing anything.
PolygonCraft staff have measures in place to test for users auto-farming, AFK-farming, and using third party programs. Users caught auto-fishing, using an aimbot, or any other distinct advantage to exploit game play will be punished appropriately.
Clause 5 - Client Mods
Client mods are allowed to be used, but you can only use those that are approved by PolygonCraft staff. Some mods are only allowed with certain parts of them disabled and/or enabled. If a client mod is not on one of the following 3 lists then please contact PolygonCraft staff on Discord before using the mod.
Allowed Mods with specific configurations
JourneyMap: Cave mapping should be disabled. All entity tracking should also be disabled.
REI's Minimap: Only surface maps are allowed. All entity tracking should be disabled.
Section 6 - World-Specific Rules
Clause 1 - Resource Worlds
Using any means (including water and fire/lava) to grief any protected area in the resource worlds (which can include protected warps and the spawn of each world) is not allowed.
General rules apply to all areas of the resource worlds, including trolling rules.
In the resource worlds PvP is not enabled, this 100% includes rules about attempts to kill players in this world, no matter what the reason.
Section 7 - Ban Information and Policies
Clause 1 - Punishments and Tempbans
All tempbans, regardless of length, may not be appealed. They will be automatically lifted when time has expired.
Clause 2 - Ban Requests
We do not allow ban requests. It is not the server’s responsibility to manage your life for you. If you are having trouble controlling your time on Minecraft, we recommend that you seek professional help outside of the server.
Clause 3 - Rule Changes
PolygonCraft reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, modify, add or remove portions of these Rules, at any time. It is your responsibility to check these Rules periodically for changes. Your continued use of the Minecraft server and Website and following the posting of changes will mean that you accept and agree to the changes. As long as you comply with these Rules, PolygonCraft grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited privilege to enter and use both Polygoncraft's Minecraft server and website.
Section 8 - General Forum Rules
Usage of the PolygonCraft forums at polygoncraft.net constitutes an agreement to these rules.
·There is to be no flaming, raging, insulting, or disrespecting of other members. This includes attempting to prod a user into starting an argument with you or others, as well as just plainly attacking them.
·Threads made for the sole purpose of raging/flaming another user or at the server in general are against the rules. The punishment for this is the thread immediately being deleted and a forum warning applied to your forum account.
·There is to be no trolling, harassing, or attempts at annoying / prodding another user into breaking the rules or to a point where they feel uncomfortable/necessary to get staff involved. Should staff deem your post trolling or harassment, you will immediately receive a forum warning and possibly a forum tempban.
·There is to be no abusing of any forum features
·There is to be absolutely no posting of personally identifiable information (Name, Address, Email, Phone Number, etc.)
·There is to be no re-creation of locked threads.
·There is to be no posting of any sort of phishing, inappropriate websites.
·There is to be no spam. This includes posting threads in all CAPS.
·There is to be no account sharing. Multiple accounts are not allowed.
·There is to be no sharing of private messages without the expressed permissions of the sender. (Unless it is exposed to staff due to an inappropriate private message.)
·There is to be no posting of pornography, gross stuff, or anything else which is not safe for work.
·There is to be no discussion of Piracy, Warez, Leaked content, Crackedminecraft accounts, etc. Keep it legal.
·There is to be no discussion of hacked clients, hacks, or other programs that are illegal in game (Nodus, autofarming, etc.).
·There is to be no soliciting, auctioning, selling, advertising, referrals. (Unless related to PolygonCraft in our advertising section).
·There is to be no racism, discrimination, drugs, alcohol, religious, political and other topics which are highly prone to flaming/debatable and most of all highly arguable discussions.
·There is to be no threads/posts made which focus purely on "raging".
·There is to be no back-seat moderating, or "minimodding". Let moderators do their jobs.
·We do not deal with goodbye threads. If you are going to leave please don't tell the world in public, and if you do, don't expect the conversation to be dragged on. We hope to see you soon and we enjoyed playing with you! =)
·We do not deal with "Why did <username> receive <punishment>. If you can’t find why a user was tempbanned/banned for example, then that’s that. Do not make threads about it. It causes unnecessary arguments.
·There is to be no "necroing" of threads, which includes the following criteria:
oBumping a thread that has not been posted on in over 2 weeks, unless the content of the thread has become relevant to be opened for discussion again.
oBumping a thread that has not been posted on in over a week in order to flame, troll, or cause a problem.
